Have you heard you manifesting abundance is all you need to do to achieve your money goals? As if the simple act of believing you’re in the state will manifest it. Forget the work, you’re there so no need to take further action.
Two truths and a lie there. In the past, I’ve been skeptical of manifestation. Especially techniques that say, “Pour a glass of water and then drink it,” as if it were a magic potion. However, there’s a scientific principle that explains why manifesting abundance works.
Whether you believe in manifestation or not, discover where it has scientific merits and where it falls short. Most importantly, learn how manifestation can help you reach your money goals.
What is manifesting abundance?
Manifesting abundance is believing you are in a state of unlimited resources. For example, money is unlimited and easily comes my way.
Manifestation is a pretty form of the scientific principle confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is the tendency for us to believe we’re right. It causes us to seek evidence that supports our beliefs and ignore evidence that doesn’t.
Confirmation bias and the ego
When you have a strong belief, the ego will stop at nothing to prove it. The ego serves to prove itself right. If you manifest abundance (i.e., strongly believe money is unlimited and coming your way), then your ego will work relentlessly to prove it.
The key is not just practicing a manifestation technique or writing down a goal. It’s believing, without a doubt, that you are already in the state of abundance.
Manifesting (confirmation bias) and the senses
It circles back to confirmation bias and how it influences your view of the world. When you believe you are in a state of abundance, you will interpret your surroundings with that mindset.
For example, if you unexpectedly get a bonus check from work, you’ll see that as proof money is abundant and coming your way. It will further strengthen your belief.
Conversely, if you have a surprise expense that causes you to lose money, you won’t be upset about it. You believe, or rather you so confidently know, you will quickly make more money.
So much of life is not what happens to you, but how you interpret it.
Why confirmation bias drives results
If manifestation is a form of confirmation bias, how does it drive results?
Once you truly believe something, you will not only interpret the world to confirm it’s true, you will also take action to prove to yourself it’s true.
When you believe abundance is yours, you may be more likely to take action to get those results. For example, you may apply for higher paying jobs or start investing.
However, here’s where some manifestation techniques fall short. Practicing manifestation, especially without action, does not guarantee results.
If something doesn’t work out the way you wanted it to, it’s not because you didn’t manifest it right.
It is you, your mind, that interprets your situation and drives your results. Manifestation is a technique to adopt a belief you want to hold about yourself or the world. It is that belief that motivates you to take action. Ultimately, action, and perhaps a bit of luck, spur your results.

Conclusion
Manifestation has scientific merits because it’s a practice to adopt beliefs. Because of confirmation bias, your mind interprets the world to support your beliefs and prove them right. When you are certain success is possible, you take more action. Action leads to results.
